Alpine weather - mid October
Discussion
It appears 'cheap' flights aren't all that cheap once the airline has charged you for check in luggage, airport check in and a frankly absurd £4 per person per flight booking fee for paying with a Visa debit card, then there's airport parking etc etc on top. I'm now thinking that the £300+ that this lot plus car hire will cost me for a week will easily cover ferry, fuel and tolls to take the Elise down to the Cote d'Azur for a week with money to spare with a bit of a detour through the Alps. So my question is what's the weather going to be like then? Will the passes be closed due to snow or will I be OK?
Anywhere to go or avoid at that time?

Unfrotunately it'll be changeable... I'd plan a route with lower level alternatives if you're heading for the high passes.
That's what I thought
I've done Lons le Saunier > Grenoble > Gap > Sisteron > St Tropez in March once and it was fine but I fancied a little detour into Switzerland if possible this time.

Im planning on a Euro Skitrip / road trip in Jan or Feb next year.
Is the Elise the best car to be tackling some tricky roads in?. Could be some scary moments.
Well I spun mine on the A3 in the snow earlier this year (luckily did a full 360 and stopped facing the right way in the inside lane without hitting anything) so I'd say no! RWD cars are rubbish in the snow too.Is the Elise the best car to be tackling some tricky roads in?. Could be some scary moments.

Tyres?I hit a pile of slush left by someone else changing lanes over the top of a ridge of snow running between the wheel tracks in lane 2.
