What fuel for central heating out in the sticks?
Discussion
All
I'm about to move out into the wilds of Lincolshire where there is no mains gas.
The house currently has bottled LPG central heating, and a multi fuel fire in the living room. Now the multi fuel looks a bit like fun...going out and chopping up trees with a chainsaw and making newspaper bricks, and all that, but the bottled LPG looks like a real pain in the arse.
Would it be difficult to convert it to liquid fuel (gas oil/kerosene)and install a tank that would see me through a winter, and what would be the likely benefits?
any help appreciated
Cheers

James here:
LPG can come in a big tank which is topped up automatically. Oil is currently more expensice than LPG I believe. Either way you will find you burn more logs as they are alot cheaper. My brother runs a two oven aga on oil with an oil boiler, spends £1500 a year on oil alone and he burns a lot of logs!!

Hi Ant
Take a look at the link on my profile, all the control of gas but with no maintenance and between 30-50% cheaper to run than storage heaters. Email me through profile on here if you like.
Thanks
Paul
looks interesting , we have electric panel heaters upstairs and radiators run on heating oil downstairs , in the 4 years we have had the oil the price has doubled !!Take a look at the link on my profile, all the control of gas but with no maintenance and between 30-50% cheaper to run than storage heaters. Last fill of the tank was almost £1000 , this year i'm expecting £1200 , considering we also have a log burning stove which is great for heating part of the house but only part its not a cheap way to heat a 5 bed house
We've also got a multi-fuel stove in iieu of a gas supply and can recommend coal or anthracite. Costs us around £12 for a 50 Kg bag of either and if you lit the fire every day a single bag would last around 2 weeks.
That would depend on how big your stove is and of course how big your house is.
