HELP ME! (2CV)
Discussion
Corrosion is the 2CVs worst enemy.
Around the screen
Doors and rear wings
Just about the whole floor esp front footwells and boot.
Poor statring is normally due to worn points (which a lot of owners don't know they have)
Good news is that the whole car can be taken apart with about 3 spanners and a screwdriver.
Doors, bonnet, bootlid slide on and off by undoing the end of the runner so are easy to replace.

What are the good/bad points? ...
As others have said really bad point is rust. The only other bad point I can think of is that most of the owners are barking mad But maybe thats a good point What are the good/bad points? ...
Good points - character, different, fun, cheap to run, cheap to fix and you can drive it everywhere flat out and not exceed the speed limit - well they will exceed 30mph but you need a with a good run up to do it
Get one, they are almost one of those cars that any petrol head should own........once!

Good on you Miguel! We've had 6 or 7 over the years, one racing one. For an unknown reason i really really want a 2CV, Ive even dreamt about them regularly recently.

The rust wasn't a major issue on any of ours, 1980-90 ours ranged from. I loved them. Very reliable cars. The professional 2CV mechanics can change an engine in 7 mins, our record is 27 mins.
they are great you should get one miguel (if you can find one) I ran one for a couple of years and loved it, cost almost nothing to run, and I sold it for what I paid for it. they are a hot to punt along a winding back road - I was able to cover some of my favourite back roads as rapidly as many more powerful cars, due to impressive grip and almost never using the brakes
My parents have had several 2cvs and latterly used 2cv city for maintainence and were very impressed also their restorations are fab

I had a suicide door one, LHD, as a second car. It got promoted to numero uno.
I think it was less than 500cc.
Classless car in a nice way
Get one for sure.
I do remember it had aweful windows, that was the only prob.
My dad has a 1958 ripple bonnet/suicide door 2CV and it's brill, only it's in bits on a ground up resto. Only 425cc but some other very clever technical innovations including speed sensative wipers.I think it was less than 500cc.

The post 1970 ones would be ones to aim for 602cc and a few more comforts.
Chassis do rot but these can be bought new for around £300 depending on model/year. They are very easy to repair/fix and have great spares backup (unless you go pre 1959!!)
Turbo'd ones aren't particularly reliable however you can base the whole car on the later Ami chassis. With that you can fit the 1015 or 1220cc engine from the GS. Another popular conversion is the BMW boxer motorbike engine.
This will give you a great little Q-car, I know of someone who with this set up who got caught speeding at 93mph!!
