So, with all this doom and gloom going on back home in the old mother country … I have been keeping an eye on the property market, something that I am naturally a skilled and slick specialist in

(snigger, yea right … )

Anyway, have seen some mention of bankruptcy auctions for property mentioned here. Now I am not one to make the gravy over someone’s overcooked roast, but buggerit … if the opportunity is there and this IS serious lucre ……
So .. how does one find out about these auctions, the guide prices and the process of buying.

Especially from oversees, if I were to look at this, I would only be looking at certain areas on London that I already know (seems smart idea) and I would be able to find a mate to take an eyelash on said property if one were to take a punt … but, where does one find out about these auctions in the first place ?!?!?!

Cheers

Plenty of them around. Google is your friend. No serious bargains to be had yet your not going to pick up a property for £40k. Give it a few more months though.

I think you can get catalogues of auction properties coming up.There is a prog on BBC in the mornings which shows people buying at auction, will have a look at who the agents are,or try google.

Have googled but it can be hard to confirm what is kosha versus somewhat less so ... especially when you are based 8,000 miles away from home.

Agree with above that no "real" bargains yet, but good to know for when to go.

scratchchin perhaps we need a PH codeword so that we don't start bidding against each other .... hehe

XJSJohn's boots getting way to big for himself as usual biggrin

that'll be homes under the hammer. They visit Barnard Marcus Auctions, and Clive Emson in the South East.

Emson dont cover London, best bet is to speak to local agents, and see who they use, also speak to agents re distressed sellers.

I'm watching for the same thing. The trouble with registering anywhere is you then start getting spam from companies who think you'll pay them £XX,000 because they've negotiated you a discount rolleyes

this meant to be genuinely constructive(!)... buying property at arms length is what got loads of these schmucks into trouble in the first place... someone has to go and see it and ideally it's you. you don't want to fall out with your dad because he went to burnley and bought you a crap house do you...??!!! smile

Yes, I learned that people who manage millions of pounds in their day jobs can't handle a few hundred. If you're a decent man, remember my £375 when your property boat comes in. Thanks chap.

totally fair and valid statement ... hence why only in specific areas that i already have owned properties.

Appreciate that again, there are exactly the same risks involved (its a shed that "dad" thinks could be a fixer-uper) but i have a few mates together with myself have done OK in the past so i have a certain level of trust.

At ths point i am just window shopping however ....

Are you so sure?

Check out most recent BM auction:

http://www.barnardmarcusauctions.co.uk/Current_Auc...

A number of sales below £40k. Including one house in Neath that sold for £22k.
