I have to get to Boston in a few weeks, and BA are the only ones with sensible flight times. However, they go from T5 at Heathrow. Is T5 still with its problems, or is it all sorted out now?

There is a huge advert outside our local railway station that specifically says "Heathrow T5 is working". There's a nice picture of a neat queue of people all lining up with their baggage, and the sun shining in through the windows.

On the basis of that I'd say it must still be a shower of ste!
hehe

It is looking good, at the moment. I checked in on line, and I made secrity to the far side in under 5 mins.

Is this some kind of space travel we need to know about...?

T5 is great, but don't walk over the fountains when they're resting...

They fire off at random intervals, and it's a long way to run to safety from the middle...

Treat them as you would treat a minefield and you'll be okay...

I flew out to sweden on business monday, i thought it was a really nice place, pre booked our seats the night before, quick check in. From walking through the door to sat down in the bar was about 6/7mins if that! very quick.

Couldnt believe all the Harrods, Gordon Ramsey and Cavier bars they had though!

Were there cows driving cars and a deer called Hal with a bummer of a birthmark?

Been through T5 twice in the last week. All seems to be working fine but, and I am open to correction on this one, there appear to be two bits to T5 that are about 400 metres apart with a shuttle train running from one to the other. Local flights seem to depart from the main building but long distance (Hong Kong in my case) seem to depart from the second building. My excuse for vaguery is that it was dark and I was tired but if I'm right, you'll need to allow about 20 mins to get to the departure gate from check-in.

Other than that, 'twas all very nice and worked very well.

There are two bits (linked by the underground train), but it's just luck of the draw where you end up leaving from. I actually like T5, the only bit that's pissed me off sometimes has been the queue for passport control.

Only thing that annoys me with all british airports is the time it takes for your bags to reach the terminal from the plane.

When i got to stockholm, wham they were there as soon as we got to the luggage belts (And it wasnt a long walk from the plane to them).

T5 seemed to take forever, as does every other UK airport ive flown from.

No problems when I went through although they did let my Leatherman through security in my hand luggage but then so did Terminal 3 only a few weeks ago!

yeah the B gates mean you need to leave 20 minutes earlier out to the satellite terminal which is a bit disspointing..

Flew to Copenhagen from T5 a month or two back, all was fine but I didn't check anything in.

A friend did and lost his bag on the return leg.

Perhaps you should look at my last thread about T5.....

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I still think it's bull and could be improved massively if you kick out the BA monopoly.

Oh, and don't use the hard driers unless you want to look like you didn't reach the gents in time.....
