House Extension Question - Water Main
Discussion
A quick one for the PH font of knowledge.
Am looking at a house which sits on a corner plot. It's ideal for us as it has a large back garden and about 20 feet to the side, which means we can buy and then extend later when we want to / can afford. Planning wise I think it should be easy as almost everyone down the street has done it.
But here is the question, the water seems to come into the house from the side of the property (imagine the plot is a rectangle, at it comes in on the long side of the plot) - there is also hydrant on the corner of the street and therefore I guess the mains will be about 1m from our border on the side we want to extend out to.
Does anyone know what the rules are about how close you can build to a public water main, or what can be done? Have done some google research and some websites say nothing allowed within 3 / 6 metres.
Thanks
Iain
