Hi,

Firstly, i'm new on here. However I have recently purchased a Nikon 5700, and I am off to Silverstone tomorrow, and would like to get a few shots or the cars etc.

Could anyone advise me of the best settings to use for that? Shutter speed etc? Also I will be taking a few close up still shots as well.

Any help much appreciated, as i'm off tonight!

Cheers.

Hi,
It really depends on how much light you have and what you're photographing! Try taking a photo in auto mode perhaps, then review what settings the camera selected, then think about what you would like to change to improve it? To reduce your depth of field (good for detail shots) choose a larger aperture (smaller f number), to get better panning shots of moving cars (ie. wheels blurred so it looks like the car is moving) you'll probably need to go for a longer shutter speed and therefore a smaller aperture. You can change your ISO level if the shutter speed is too slow; a bigger ISO value makes the camera more sensitive to light and therefore gives shorter exposures but at the expense of picture quality.

Hope that helps, have a good day! Show us your photos afterwards and I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions as to how to improve for the next time.
