Obamas popularity at home is starting to wane because he has no substance to him. I don't think racism comes into it, he did after all win the democratic nomination. I just think people are looking at him and thinking "what's he done, what does he stand for" and making up their own minds.
As for lurches to the right, McCain is certainly well to the left of Bush in the accepted sense. He's not the Democrats favourite republican for nothing. If he wins it will be because Dems move across to him and possibly because some of the far right Christians dont think him right wing enough to vote for.

Funny that, the same accusations could be made of McCain, the democratic republican. What does he stand for exactly? No one knows, mainly because he doesn't. It's interesting that again, you're using the same rhetoric that Nulabour is using against Cameron and the Conservatives, ie inexperienced, no policies, poor previous record of Conservatives, current woes are 'not our fault but the fault of world economic conditions,' the state of the country is due to the damage done by the last Democrat/Conservative government. When such rhetoric is used by the Labour party I always think it smacks of desperation from a government who have lost control and have flushed the country down the toilet, as have the republicans. They know that, which is why they've chose McCain as the least Republican of them all.
unfortunately i would have to agree and say mccain, though i do hope i am wrong.

NObama's Socialism seems to have been favored in Europe. I can understand that, with his Global Poverty Act in Congressional committee ready to be acted on! The cost of that little diddy will be $845 Billion dollars for 10 years. Giving it ALL to the U.N. to do with as they please, seems to be in style in Europe.
His 1 trillion dollars in NEW spending plans, his 1 Trillion dollars in NEW TAXES with the Rangel tax bill, again just sitting in committee, and his upcoming proposal for a CIVIALIAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE of 5 million people, is just insane! This Security force plan is supposed to have the BUDGET EQUAL to the current military spending bill.
You European's have NO IDEA whatsoever of what this Socialist would do to America. You folks perhaps relish the thought of America, now becoming a second rate country, giving it's wealth to share with the rest of the world, As an American, I do NOT want that to happen. I currently enjoy my lifestyle, have worked hard for 45 years to enjoy it in my retirement.

His current status as an American citizen is in question, going to court, and will have to be answered by Sept. 24. There are so many problems with this man, that I find it almost beyond belief that this man has made it to this point!
His Vice Presidential candidate, Biden, yesterday claimed that Hillary Clinton would have made a better Presidential, or Vice Presidential candidate, then he would have!

The Republicans are grasping at straws, and that's all this little bump in the polls is. They put forward their most democratic candidate, hoping to fool America. They chose a good-looking (if you are old and white) woman, hoping to fool American women and withered old McCain clones (seems to have worked for you, but I daresay you were going to vote republican anyways). And they are using sleazy underhanded tactics like focusing on innocuous phrases, ignoring the big issues that count. Again, they are only fooling the fools, and it's not going to be enough. As for not wanting America to be second-rate, you lost that race to the Chinese a long time ago. This is a Post-American world, get used to it. The only thing America had going for it, once the Asian/Chinese jaggernaut awoke, was the democratic ideal it was founded on. That was raped by the Republicans, leaving America hollow.
Unfortunately for the republicans, the ordinary American is not going to be fooled or scared into voting for them this time around. They can keep trying, and it will be amusing to watch them proclaim victory up until the last second, but they will lose.
