You've bought a knackered 1.5hp stationary engine.

Well done that man.

A lick of paint and you'll soon have it in show condition, then you'll spend all next summer sitting in a field on the periphery of steam fairs across the land.

The best £102 you ever spent.

Or maybe not.

You bought a stationary engine?

And you've posted about it?

Have you no shame?

See you soon, relegated to the very far back of traction engine or classic car rallies, behind a line of orange tape fixed onto reinforcing bars driven into the ground, with your old MK1 Transit van towing a 1979 Abbey GT 2 berth caravan, sitting in your deckchair whilst your engine goes 'Phut phut phut' making a 60 watt light bulb flicker or pumping dirty water from one tin bath into another.

Sadness rating? 10/10

Well, probably get it running, paint it, stick it back on eBay for some other sad act to buy! Or, get it running and then annoy the fk out the neighbours. Hehe they thought the knackered Trans Am was antisocial.

Actually I blame groomi. It's him that got me searching for stationary engines on eBay.

Global warming? You'll be wanting this then to speed things up:

Ruston VC-4 - 120hp at 430rpm. If you look to the right of the wooden 'Ruston Engine' sign, you'll see the spare piston the owner keeps.

Spot on!

I've never understood the attraction of watching water being pointlessly pumped round and round. Not only that, but it seems to be compulsory to dress like Fred Dibnah whilst your wife displays her collection of corkscrews or corn dollies.

Fair enough mate. If you can turn it into a profit then that's cool. Buying another one, to keep, wouldn't be though. IMO.

Each to their own and all that, but not my thing at all.

You could've at least bought a Merlin engine as a project.
