I need something to do on a Saturday / Sunday to keep me busy and have the following requirements...

1. Budget to start up hobby is £1000 - £1500 and then no more than a couple of hundred pounds a month thereafter to maintain

2. I have a drive way and a decent sized shed but no garage (thinking of storage here)

I used to do all sorts of things on weekends - Kayaking, Road Biking, Moutain Biking, Nitro RC Cars so enjoy a few different things but got rid of all of the above over time.

Anyway - does anyone have a hobby a bit out of the ordinary that they enjoy and fits the requirements above?

I came up with:

Kitesurfing, Kitebuggying, Snowboarding @ milton keynes and then away each year, buy a motorbike (only have CBT though so would have to be 124cc or below).

Anyone do anything else interesting?

Clay Pigeon shooting. Should be able to get up and running for £1500 no probs.

Great fun. Blokes and guns - can't go wrong.

Rock and indoor climbing. Equipment costs can be cheap to start off with (~£150 after a trial lesson) then you can worry about rope, nuts, cams, etc later. The trips abroad to decent rock is the expensive part but if you have holidays anyway...

Funnily enough, I do this about once every 2 months with the Father in Law who shoots every weekend. It's great fun but I discounted it as we currently rent and I wasn't sure about the legalities / requirements for a gun case fixed to the structure of the house.

I could buy a gun and keep it at his but we only go and see them once every so often so I'd need my own gun to join a club down by me (Oxfordshire).

Also one of the guys we shoot with applied for his licence a year ago and it's only just come through.

Understand the first three - not heard of docking. If it's anything like the first three, i'm guessing it's not going to be pleasant...

Well, spooning and dogging aren't unpleasant, IYSWIM!

Docking is probably pleasant if you prefer man on man action...

I was going to say that too as I'm looking into starting this. I don't fancy keeping a gun at home though but my local school (thats shooting school) have guns you can use but I understand it's better to have your own.

Sailing. Ticks all your boxes. Ring your local sailing club now.
Britain is a nation of sailors, from Drake and Nelson, Hornblower and Jack Aubrey, to Macarthur and Knox-Johnson. Be part of it. Go sailing.

Get some red paint, chains and a few belts and a T-Shirt with 'Dungeon Master' on the back.

Needless to say, my new hobby is great.

Get an old Trials bike and do some local trials and events

As they are all/most on private land you donot need a licence or CBT.
Most bikes are not even registered.
