Blimey, it's getting quite hairy out there. In the past 2 weeks I've had 3 suppliers/customers go in to administration. I don't think I've had that many in the past 2 years.

Things really are getting tough out there.

That's a shame - not only as a West Ham "fan" but also they were great the one and only time wot I flew with them.

So... who's round is it then?
Edit: It's OK. It's my wife's....

Why isn't the ATOL protection a "soft fall" version. I.E. protection of Holidays up to 30 days after the compant concedes it is going into administration. That at least means those going on holiday do not lose out and those going on Holiday get the chance to make alternative arrangements.

Won't be the last either I'm afraid. We've all seen lots of posts on here about the ridiculous price of fuel but this really puts it into perspective. Can't help but feel sorry for all the people that have turned up looking forward to their holiday, those stranded abroad and most of all, their employees. To wake up or land after a flight to be told you no longer have a job.. shocking

It's grim but there has been massive overcapacity in the aviation market for many years now. I know there was at least one XL employee on here, I hope everyone can get a job again quickly.

Unfortunately there are still a couple of other operators who are looking a bit shakey. If fuel prices stay as they are XL certainly won't be the last to go under.

Good luck to all involved.

I'd rather not comment on a public forum.

I feel sorry for anyone who booked a holiday with them. Very rarely even land in the destination country.

There is one other I know of that is dogged by rumours. Sadly the same people that predicted Zoom/XL to me are predicting these guys will go also. frown

Not going to say it on a public forum, that'd be unfair on those who work there. Doubt they'll make it to Christmas though.

Maybe yes. Maybe no. I'd not want to worry any employees either though. So don't ask me to.

I just hope the rumours are just that. Rumours. frown

I've booked a break for early October. It was through Thomson/Tui - who I hope are in reasonable shape.
