I once spent an hour shopping for guitars alongside Noel Gallagher from Oasis, on Denmark Street in London. Not that he's a hero of mine - I thought he was a prick before meeting him and felt much the same afterwards....

They say you should never meet your heroes, so who here has? How was it? Did a post Glitter autograph hunt not go to plan? Let's here 'em..

met senna in '92, he defintely had an aura about him, was happy to sign autographs and for photos, but rather than engaging him in any conversation i was stood there staring as i couldn't quite believe it. guess that can happen if you meet your hero - what can you say without sounding a bit weird...?!

I've been working for a couple of years now with a guy who was a sort of hero of mine when I was "studying" design. He is (or was ) a very famous artist, and now he's a supplier of ours I have to tell him when he's done things incorrectly, which feels a bit wierd.

Steve Redgrave and Mat Pinsent at the HOTRR. We collided with them before the start. One of our crew from kent told them to "Fack off you Facking Kants" before realising which crew it was. Not how I would have planned to meet two of my heroes I must admit. At least they didn't beat the living daylights out us though - they were some big chaps in their boat.

When I was a nipper, I was obsessed with wildlife documentaries and my hero was Sir David Attenborough.

My dad arranged for me to meet him after a lecture talking about his Life In The Freezer series.

He was superb. I was about 10 so no doubt asked the most inane questions you can possibly imagine, but he still stood and chatted to me for some time and at no point did I feel he was trying to get away. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and funny.

Anthony Thistlewaite, Mandolin player with the waterboys, and later (when I met him) the Saw Doctors.

I thought he was great, and the waterboys was the main reason I took up the mandolin.

On meeting him, I just thought he was a bit odd.

Was entertained by Nigel Mansell at his house on the IoM. Good, honest down to earth bloke despite the wealth and success.

Do work with a lot of celebs and find that if you treat them like humans, then they do the same. There are exceptions - one in particular but I'm not about to name names as we need to book her for something soon, water feature or not!!

Not really a hero but met Chip Foose in July and he was a very nice guy to talk to.

Have had several famous customers and met some famous people who are frequently the complete opposite of what you imagine.

My Gf saw Barry Sheen at Brands on the way back from the loo and raced over to get his autograph for me. I had been smashed up pretty bad falling off a bike a few years before and he was a bit of an insperation to get me on my feet agin.

She explained this to him and he sent her off to go and get me. We ended up spending the afternoon in hospitality with him over a few beers.

He then sent a lakky off to the bookshop to pick up a copy of his book and signed it for me.

Derek Bell on a flight back from Miami in March this year. Super bloke and does not appear to have aged in the last 20 years.

Played in the Omega European Pro Am last week and we got Peter Baker as our pro (he was Woosies vice captin in his Ryder Cup year)

Not exactly a hero as such but i had seen him on the Tv etc

He could not have been a nicer bloke, gave all three of us tips and help on our game, made sure either he or his caddy worked out all the yardages and even let me have a crack of his driver up the 16th

Having played in a few local pro am's where most of the pros think they are something a bit special, it was a lovely change.

I met Richard Noble in the carp ark at Silverstone (BTCC meet, I think).

He very kindly posed for a pic of himself shaking hands with me - his wife is in the background having a bit of a giggle at us. I have the photo framed alongside a model of ThrustSSC.

They then got into a rather old F(?) reg Volvo estate.

Great bloke, and a true icon - one of my 3 favourite British people - alongside Margaret Thatcher and Nigel Mansell bow

Jonah Lomu - inspired me to play rugby, met the chap and he is ace smile very calm and took the time for a little chat

Alizee - When living in France I had the opportunity to meet her but was a bit nervous and ran off.....basically I fancied the pants of her and when she was meeting the rugby team i chickened out, apparently a nice lass though smile

My only hero would have been Lomu for the way he ran through the english defence like a rhino through a vegetable patch, and was not disappointed to meet the fella smile

At the other end of the scale:

I got dragged into a music shop with my dad who spent ages chatting away to Eric Clapton - really nice fella (not that I had a clue who he was back then!)

Not exactly my heros but famous people I like that I've spent time with:

Linda Barker cloud9 Shes lovely

Tara P Tompkinson cloud9 also great

Mark King (level 42) Great guy... but the girl I was with thought he was the guy from the Crocodile Dundee films
