Hi,

I've wanted an Alfa 145 cloverleaf or 146Ti for ages, it's getting about the time when we will need a second car (moving to the country) so one of these wedge shaped wonders will be mine. The problem is money is too tight to mention (new house - ouch) and I want to spend the minimum possible (who doesn't) whilst still getting something that is decent to drive and won't let me down too often.

I know that it'll need regular servicing and I've read about the belts etc, but the pricing on the, very few, examples that are out there is odd. From £700 up to over £2k, what's a reasonable spend?

and why are most of the decent looking ones up in Scotland? frown

Thanks for any wisdom given.

You should be able to. Buy on condition rather than age. 146s have always been a bit cheaper. You will have to be prepared to travel though to find the one you want. I think my old 145QV is coming back on the market. That's in West Yorkshire so a bit closer than Scotland.
biggrin
Great cars though. Worth hunting one down.

Thanks - I don't mind a bit of travel, especially if it involves nice drive back! It's the worry of making a big trip only to find a lemon at the other end.

I like the 1st edition (I think) 145/6s with the black bumper strips. Apparently they are a bit lighter etc and I think they look more alfa than the facelifted versions.

'96 146ti in red please... What was yours and I'll keep a look out!

I had two 145QVs - a red 96 and a black 99. I preferred the original version too. Slightly less power but a nicer delivery from a sweeter engine I found. The chap that bought the black one has been in touch to say he's thinking of swapping it. It's a black facelift 145QV with tan leather.

What other ones are in Scotland except mine?
You can have that for a bit over a grand!

I have the problem that everyone likely to be interested is in England or Ireland.......

Only person to view it, wants it but can only buy if he part exchanges his older 145 1.8...... its tidy but I'd rather keep a car I know to sell, even though I would be getting a bit of money off him and have a cheaper car to sell.

She sounds a lady of good taste.

I think what I'll do is point the owner in the direction of this thread and then he can chip in if he wants.

Thanks Rick.

Bad news with mine (your old one) I'm afraid. See my posts here. http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfas-4-sale/133895...

Having spent nearly 2 grand on it in the last year the MOT failure is the final straw and, as I was thinking of selling anyway, it's just not worth it to me to spend more on it.

So I've got a guaranteed buyer at £600 tomorrow. Had a few more prospective offers slightly above that but they're dependent on seeing, can change their minds etc. so I'm going with the £600 tomorrow unless someone turns up today with the readys!

It really is a shame, it's a lovely car but enough is enough. Bit of TLC from someone who wants one long term and it will be great.

Yours is sweet and if I could spare a couple of days I would love to come and see it (and a mate in Edinburgh), but I can't! Good luck with the sale.

Oooo sorry to hear that.

Like you say, will be a great car for someone who can put some TLC into her.
Good luck with the sale.
