Im due to do some for a arctic course and part of the kit list recommends a ski march boot - Lunghag or Alico but they also suggest a 2nd hand German para boot sized to allow extra socks and felt insoles/liners.

Ive never done Telemark skiing but have done normal skiing and have seen pictures of the bindings which look adaptable.

My question is how adaptable are the bindings to say a normal army boot. I cant seem to find a ski-march boot in a size 10 anywhere. It needs to be a ski march boot as they will be the ones I use all the time on the course.

You need special boots.

If you use regular boots and devise some method of keeping the band on then the sole will just bend and be completely useless.

I have some old ones in the loft left over from my days in the Marines.

are they Alico ski march ones in size 10? Want to sell them on ebay? Im normally 9.5 in normal shoes/boots so I thought a 10 would be about right with extra sock(s)

How warm are these boots anyway, will I need to pad them out with felt liners etc or just a couple of socks.

I just went up in the loft - anything to avoid studying!

Unfortunately they are to small for you. You can clearly see the lip at the front and the channel at the back to keep the boot in place on the ski. The sole is also re-enforced to stop bending.

Boots and bindings have moved on a long way since these though. I just searched for the manufacturer on the web with no success.

Won't you be issued boots anyway?

If I remember rightly I only ever wore one pair of socks at a time. When skiing you will NOT be getting cold I can assure you.

Thanks for looking. Interesting about the socks. I too thought we would be issued with the boots but for some unknown reason they are not. Doh !

Would you say the sizes are accurate to your normal shoes/boots? As almost certainly it will be a buy before I try from ebay. Clearly larger can be filled out but smaller cant.

If you can, try them on. Skiing telemark style with ill-fitting boots will hurt. A lot!

Don't snow & rock sell them?

http://www.denbigharmysurplus.co.uk/acatalog/Boots... Try here. Cheap and you could try them on before you go.

What about out there, before your course starts?
