Afternoon all,

I've seen numerous references to hiring lenses here on this forum. The idea of doing that sounds very attractive, particularly with the Goodwood Revival coming up, but where do I go and how does it work, ie do I pick them up in person, are they posted and then returned, er, that sort of thing.

I live in Milton Keynes if that's useful added info biggrin

Not used one myself, but the guy who runs lensesforhire is highly regarded on a couple of photo forums I visit. Delivered to your house, which makes things pretty easy!

I've used lensforhire a couple of times. Very straightforward, quality equipment and worth the money to assess an expensive lens before purchase.

The 100-400 IS L seems tempting.

£36 for 3 days hire might just suit me. Revival and all.

Just seen that I had to pick a delivery type. Now it's not as fun.

I used LensesforHire for the 80-400VR Nikon lens I used at Fighting Torque. I chose to collect the lens in person as I was over that way anyway, then posted the lens back when I was finished with it. No agro, no stress and I'll be more than happy to use them next time I have a specific lens requirement.

Fixation - London

Good rates. Mail order rental available once you've been in with ID for the first time.

bit confusing that they have a hire price of £3k for 7 days hire for a lens that they don't have confused

However, thanks for the recommendations for the company. It looks like a very cost effective way of testing a couple of lenses that I'm tempted by. Well, only less cost effective than some nice sole on PH lending me one gratis wink

Hi there,

Have used Lensesforhire once before. There service was superb, I hired the Canon 70-200 F2.8 and a 2x teleconvertor for the Silverstone Classic event.
The lens was fantastic, arrived well packaged and in my opinion the 7 day hire period was reasonably priced.

I have just had another lens delivered from them today, this time I am trying the following: -

Going to be using this all weekend at Silverstone for the Le Mans Series and next week for the Britcar 24Hr.

Am seriously considering buying this lens and can't wait to give it a trial run.

Regards

Tim

If you're thinking of 'testing' lenses, then I would rent from Camulet. They refund all rentals from the price of the lens when you purchase.
