Article in 'The Engineer' today: Canadian scientists have managed to insert genetic material from spiders into cells from cows and hamsters enabling them to harvest spider silk from their milk! The resultant material, when woven, is said to be 25% lighter than polymers and stronger than carbon fibre. Full scale production will involve placing the genes into male goats in the hope that their female offspring will contain the spider web proteins.

The material can be woven into bullet proof vests or biodegradeable fishing line.

New body material for a TVR spyder perhaps?
