Polaris World - anything to do other than golf?
Discussion
I've been offered a chance of an almost free holiday if I want to join some mates at a villa at the Polaris World development in Mar Menor.
From what I can see there's not a lot else to do around there if you hate golf. Has anyone been there and can either confirm or can provide any ideas for what to do around there?

The limited opportunities for the former and complete lack of the latter are my concerns, hence the posting!!!
My housemate used to work for Polaris - I'll ask her toninght for the full skinny. Whatever that is.
But I'm pretty sure it's close to a beach and isn't far from Murcia (where amongst other things there's a water park).
Incidentally, if anyone is interested in investing in overseas property (let's just neatly side-step the current economic climate!) that's what she does now.

No it's not finished, it's in Spain. Nothing in SPain is ever finished. If it is ever finished then it's knocked down instantly to make space for more building.
Murcia - dump on the outside (very industrial), nice in the middle (as Spainish cities go). Catch the train from Totana as it's a lot easier. Cartgena - nice naval town on the coast. Reasonable shops - few bits of roman crap. Take the boat tour in the harbour. Mar Menor, don't know too well, but "the strip" is supposed to be okay, as is the La Manga resort / Ascari race resort if you can afford it! Mazzaron (the nearest town I think)- deluged by expats from the slightly down market Camposol (half way between Polaris World and the coast). Otherwise has nice cafes and good diving (at least three schools), but gets very swamped in August, might be okay now. Basically all the spanish have second homes here and flock in. It gets crazy, though the no of young women in the clubs is crazy (think Justin Timberlake "Senorita" video...). Lots of eye candy if you're in the right place at the right time (hard to do as there's a set circuit starting at cafe->bars->music bars-> nightclub, you're not cool unless you're in the queue to get in to a club at 5am in the morning!). THere's also the interior, Sierra D'Espuna and the hills.
Overall it' okay. Not gunna change your world but okay if you have a car. It's just not really set up for tourists. Alternatively a 2-3hr drive will get you to Almeria, and the sets of all the spagetti westerns. V.good day okay, esp. with kids.
