Possible redundancy's in another city bank
Discussion
Well the roumers of the last week have been confirmed and there will be redundancys at my work.
Its a big city bank and we have done well not loosing anyone until now.
If anyone in the know could help it would be great if the dreaded come's my way am i right in thinking basic is 1 week for every full year (im 29 and been here 5 years) tax free up to 30k
Next question is that on basic wage as i get a shift allowance for working 5.30am till 1pm this has been for the last 3 years so not alough not on my salary but still paid with it is it classed as expected income as i have received it for so long.
Does the job you do have to be made redundant too i.e no one else will do that job for however long
Its also crazy as there are people here who will jump up with joy at being made redundant but guarantee they wont and it will be the others who done want to go who will
cheers guys and fingers crosses

Yes, sorry to hear of your situation.
Redundancy terms in banks are normally quite good - the government standard is one weeks pay per year, capped at 10 years and £200 a week. Not so good.
Check with your HR department for your banks rate.
Hope it all ends positively for you.
I got made redundant from a bank a couple of years along with 100 or so other people when they closed down a support site. If its of any consolation the vast majority of us got other work within three months max, often on more pay or in a better company.
Let us know how it goes. Good luck
