It surely depends on what you plan to do - if the work will be extensive then SORN is fine but if its a clean down/paint/waxoyl then it may only take a little while and be off the road for a couple of weeks/whatever. As you say those nice winter days can be very nice - just get wrapped up ...

in fairness the chassis is in pretty damn good shape. My to do list is as follows
1. track rod ends
2. drive gaiters
3. sump gasket is a bit weepy
4. shot blast, zinc and stone chip protect rear wishbones
all perfectly do-able in little bits... right going to take her out to help me make my mind up...
