No, the usual old wank I expect. 'OK OK I'll pay some more bloody tax, now will you STFU?'

Oddly they never suggest overpopulation as the cause....

Yeah I watched it. Don't know why I allow myself get wound up by this nonsense.

Strange how all these scientists and experts have to fly all around the world (first class no doubt) to do 'research'.

OK. Can the informed here let me in on why it was so wrong? The TV show that is. I did watch it.

Just asking before people start getting apoplectic.

Well, it was interesting that they chose the Reagan based research to rubbish but then they totally glossed over the Thatcher based research (the intention was to commit to more nuclear power stations - how foresighted was that?) however, the research itself was completely thorough, conducted properly and thoroughly peer-reviewed.

However, last night, they just showed Maggie on the podium doing her "The children are the inheritors of the planet" speech.

Why is it that when they want to get some credibility for this rubbish they find some gobby Scot to promote it? The bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh are full of them, by the way, and he would have made just as much sense arguing that Scotland are a cert for the next World Cup.

However, if he really believed that the world was threatened by man made global warming caused by CO2 then I doubt if he would have taken two powerful helicopters to Antarctica just to get fifteen seconds of eye candy.

Typical overproduced Government propaganda. This is why I am out of this dump as soon as I can arrange it.

I found the anti MMGW case 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' broadcast some months ago and then suppressed much more convincing, and I suggest that if you would like to balance this with an opposing view, you should find it and watch it. I suspect that this crap has been produced in response to try to win the kids over.

However, my position is this. I have been told so much rubbish by politicians over the years that after a while you come to recognise it.

In the 60's we were assured that industrialisation was driving us into a new ice age. In the 70's we were assured that oil was going to run out before the Millennium, and sports cars were history. Before the Millennium, we had 'The Millennium Bug' and now we are all going to die by 2050 as the world heats up.

During the second world war peiople were apparently encouraged to cut down their garden railings and pile them up so they could be used to build tanks. What actually happened was it slowly dissolved into rust and was thrown into a landfill site. We were subsequently told that it was done to give the public a sense that they could help. Personally I would rather help by doing something useful, and I don't like being taken for an idiot.

The problem is that human beings have this predisposition to believe we are all sinners and therefore we ought to be punished. Scientists are the new witch doctors, and the media could produce a documentary to prove that black was white if they were paid to do it. Politicians will ride any train that offers them more power (tax in this case) and less responsibility (blame for anything that goes wrong). This is a total godsend to them. That utter prick Gordon Brown and his bug eyed colleague the appropriately named Mr Balls have lifted billions in Climate Change related tax and squandered it supporting problems like Northern Rock which they played a big part in creating. It is all so obvious and phoney it is sickening.

The irony is that we all get so focussed on CO2 that real damage to the environment is entirely ignored. People think they are doing their bit by paying these phoney taxes, while all they are actually doing is saving the arses of the fraudster's collective we call the Government.

This is my greatest fear. That in all the bks of trying to be "green" we are actually doing stuff wherein valuable habitats supporting irreplaceable biodiversity are being destroyed. Who knows when a species might become useful - vaccines, whatever. Once they're gone they're gone.

Likewise. Focussing on a single issue brings real potential for other important stuff to be missed or deemed unimportant.

Tell you what guys, none of this will matter after Wednesday when they switch on the Swiss Particle Accelerator and we all disappear into a black hole.

'Phew!' thinks Brownie, at least I won't have to go to Prime Minister's question time.

I, like many others here, feel we're being steamrollered into this whole Climate Change argument and that our Gov is cynically exploiting this for taxation purposes.

What concerned me was that earlier scientists talked with great confidence about the up and coming ice age as a result of our actions. Their wisdom is now accepted as wrong but what the programme makers didn't flag up was how we are convinced we've now got it right. Current wisdom was dogmatically accepted as fact rather than just as a 'revised theory'.

Another thing that grated was the CO2 graph which didn't start at zero. That sort of graph is only used to deceive IMO.

But on the flipside, I wonder if we are too eager to believe that alternative arguments such as some of those in the Global Warming Scandal are correct simply because they fit our agenda. I'm not convinced they were 100% correct.

What we need is some proper, independently funded research.

Completely understand what you are saying, but surely no matter how independent the research if it didn't support your own opinion then you would say its flawed. Certainly the 'opposition' to us has, they dismiss studies that don't support their way of thinking.

I get people mentioning the IPCC to me, and I point out that essentially they (a bit group of scientists) have put forward their opinion and people are taking is as fact as they can't prove MMGW.

The other thing is, that now some of the recently recorded data seems to support the theories put forward in TGGWC. So as a petrol head I tend to gravitate towards that way of thinking.
