We're in Florida for a couple of weeks in December and I've got one day in my schedule for Universal Studios. Question is, which is better? Universal Studios or Universal's Islands of Adventure? Anyone been to both and can tell me.

I have been to Universal Studios once before but that was over 10 years ago, and my other half has not been to either.

Universal's Islands of Adventure is for children, not adults.

I genuinely cannot comprehend adults who go to theme-parks for a holiday.
Think of all the natural beauty and cool things to see in the world, yet some people can't understand it. Like people who literally go to Disneyland Paris and don't go to Paris, or people who go to Cuba and spend their whole time in the confines of the resort.

But if that's what you enjoy, please go ahead tongue out
But if I was in your position to go on holiday, well...

Whichever you choose, spend the extra $20 or so and get the fast track tickets. Queue's can be a nightmare and I refused to wait 45 mins for anything.

Go to the studios....Quite an interesting short day out...but I hope you like to queue.....Island of adventure is just a theme park..nothing special....

Although, I kinda regret going to either...a day at the beach would have been far more fun....make sure you go to Cape Kenedy Nasa thing....Take the bus around the site....amazing, deffinately a long day out!

A package holiday to North Korea, you may as well go to Universal Studios.

Not my idea of fun to go on a Package holiday. I decide where I would like to go, not the tour guide.

But but but.....North Korea!!! You can tell your friends and act like you're better than them because you don't go to the normal holiday destinations!

Islands of Adventure is definitely more for thrillseekers. Universal more of a family destination. I was there a few weeks ago and queues at those two parks were all short. You can get tickets that let you viist both parks (they are next door to each other) and if the queues are short you should be able to do most of the stuff at both parks in one day. If you're going all that way, you should probably do both, unless you're saving your cash for next winters tour of Korean missile bunkers!

Island of adventures has the big roller coasters and Universal studios has more of the movie stuff. I really enjoyed both.

Believe it or not but some people have kids and actually take them on holiday with them and thus have to cater the holiday with them in mind.

Personally I will never be old enough to enjoy a good rollercoaster or ride.

But then I'm not scared of them.

Well like I said we're going for 2 weeks, so for most of the time we'll be doing things like Miami, Key West and the Everglades (already got my Stang booked for the drive biggrin) but there's always time for a rollercoaster or two!

Well, after having had the Disney 'Experience' at Paris this summer, I would rather pluck my pubes off with a rusty pair of pliers in preference.

What a facking miserable 'experience';

Overpriced...more like blatant profiteering.... €8 to Park? The only reason you go is to get into the place and then they charge you for the privilege of parking!

€400 for 2 adults and 2 kids for a 2 day pass.... more daylight robbery...

€30 for 3 Hot Dog meals (consisting of giant festid hotdog with some cheesy type gloop, some fries and a drink...)

Queued 1hr 30mins for a 50 second ride.... considering Disneyland should be for kids, there is surprisingly little to do for little kids....

Shops and shops galore selling overpriced 'disney' tat.

I'll say no more, suffice to say we won't ever be going back...

I've been to both - Florida many times and Paris a couple of times.

They are *very* different. It's critical with either location to go at the right time of year - certainly not during any school holidays. If the OP is going in the time running up to Xmas it'll be extremely quiet, if he's going over the Xmas period then he'll be lucky to get in to any of the theme parks, never mind have long queues.

Be sure to try the Jerk Chicken (lick) and have a drink in the bar that Ernest Hemmingway used to frequent ("Sloppy Joes", or something like that)

Cape Canaveral may be a tourist attarction, but it's definitely NOT a theme park.
It is one of only two places in the whole world where human being actually depart this planet.

I'm at Universal at the moment, well, in the hotel 500 yards down the road.

Normal tickets get you entry to both parks now, so it's not really a choice between the two anymore.
