Hello,

I have the chance to take my exige out on track in a while, can you get single day track insurance. Any idea of how much and where.

Thanks,

CCI. How much depends on which track, you and your car/value. Expect to pay anything between £60-£250.

Brilliant thanks. It will be at Goodwood...let's hope the weather is slightly better in a couple of weeks!

make sure you check the excess of any insurance. I got quoted 10% of my vehicle value by one broker.

Excess is always much higher than usual on track day specials.

Goodwood is also one of the more expensive tracks to insure for - owing to the propensity of stuff to hit wink as opposed to somewhere like Bedford or Snetterton.

Of course I would never condone the following behaviour but.....

I have heard of some disreputable people moving the car on to a nearby road and reporting the accident there.

OUTRAGEOUS!

Dodgy cos some insurance companies have photographers taking pics of reg plates at track days or at least so i have been told.

I seriosuly doubt that as the cost of doing so would be prohibitive but the point is that it's fraud and highly illegal.

As I said I don't condone it.

How many here have been to a track day and not taken up insurance? I've only ever done one track day and it was very well controlled with little risk of a car on car shunt. In addition the track had large run off areas so even those that did go off the damage was superficial if any at all.

Also you don't have to go nuts, you can just use the experience to learn more about how the car can perform without getting outside your comfort zone.

My view is it depends on the organiser. I tend to only do LOT and GRRC days, and if I didn't have track day cover with my Heritage policy, there would be some tracks I might not take insurance for. Both of these clubs organise exceptionally safe and well mannered track days, where you can be confident that other peoples driving standards will be carefully watched.

Any other organisers other than those and it would be a must for me.

All relevent trackday incidents are "logged" by the circuits - part of their insurance cover requirements. Insurance companies aren't stupid, they know the score, & will make the necessary enquiries, & will refer appropriate matters to the Police.

Anyone doing as you say, deserves all they will get for perpetrating insurance fraud.

Did a couple of days at Croft last year without insurance. It's a heck of a gamble, but for me it came down to this; Do the track day for about £160 with no insurance or don't do the track day at all because of not being able to afford the cost of the track, plus insurance which worked out at over £400. It's a lot for a days entertainment.

£100 for peace of mind and lack of skill...no brainer!

Thanks all, I'll give CCI a ring.
