As above, where would you recommend to stay? we are going to scotland for a week and think a couple of days in Edinburgh would be nice.

Apart from the castle where would you suggest seeing? is the cemetry where Grey Friers Bobby (sp?) was still there? I heard there is an old and new Edinburgh, is that correct?

And for the rest of Scotland, what would you advise? Sky etc?

Thanks in advance

Let me know a budget, and I can help you from there.

For example, I can heartily recommend staying at the Witchery, but it's at the top end of the cost scale.

In that case then, I can absolutely recommend the Malmaison or Radisson, the Radisson at Royal Mile is especially nice and you can't get more central. It also has covered car parking for about £8 per day.

The Greyfriars cemetary is still there but I'm not sure there's all that much to see tbh - make your way to the Greyfriars Bobby pub and have a beer instead - there's a wee statue of the dog out front (the cemetary is just down the hill on the left).

Take a walk up Arthur's Seat - free and there are fantastic views. If you've family try Dynamic Earth or the Zoo. If you want a laugh - see the Scottish Parliament, we blew half a billion on it and it looks a prison with bamboo bars rolleyes. For a bit of culture there are several galleries and museums etc if that's your bag.

Skye is not a bad suggestion - you could go up via M9/A84/A85 - stop off at Killin or take in the views at Glen Coe. You could return by Loch Ness then Inverness and back down the A9 maybe ?

Some nice driving to be had up there !
