How many S1 Exiges left? Are they that rare???
Discussion
I must admit to adding to the exodus... exported mine from Edinburgh to New Zealand a year ago. Chassis number 126... stock as a rock, pretty much as she left Lotus

Sadly in a great many pieces at the moment, but only to make her even better
I'd guess that the UK has about 150-200 Exiges left. Many were used for motorsport and a fair few have met their end that way. There seems to be a fir few leaving the UK for foreign shores, at least a handful a year.

I know the French and the Germans buy lots of these. It doesn't seem to worry them that they are RHD. In fact being RHD makes them better for the track than the LHD.
Having driven a RHD in on the right, it is very difficult as I couldn't see a thing out the back, and coming out of junctions on the angle it was difficult.
Therefore, I will not be taking one out of the country. Instead, I have a 160S Sport and a mint 1997 S1.
Oh, I am English so I might one day come back to the UK with them!

PS: hats off to Esprit for the work on his, good luck with the re build

As Bogie says, we're in the process of compiling a register. Unfortunately Mike Stripe (Exige owner & head honcho at VSCC), who is co-ordinating the exercise, has recently undergone surgery, so I would expect it will be many months before the register is anything like complete. However, it should provide an interesting factual record for future reference/posterity.
If any S1 Exige owners have not yet submitted their car details, it would be much appreciated if they would a few minutes to do so - thanks. http://www.exiges.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=...

Cheers, Clanger, nice one.
Nothing serious with Mike, unlike a few years ago. He's making a good recovery, but he's unlikely to be riding horses for a while
Upon re-reading my earlier post, I now realise that I implied that a many months delay was down to Mike's operation. Apologies for that, as I meant to say that although Mike's recent incapacity had slowed things down, the obtaining & collation of the base information, to make the register meaningful, was a lengthy process - especially when certain peeps are only now just getting around to it, or even aren't aware of it
