Bought yesterday for SWMBO - got right into it myself, it's really quite good. Am just trying to install on a second computer so we can both play at the same time if wished!

Great fun I'd say and you can create truly unique beasties!

I read the reviews the other day after waiting years for it, and I agree that it's not what I was expecting either.

But, it's fun, though not that involving and there were several parts where I really don't understand what I had to do. Got to space now, and got one little ally following me about. Taken over one planet, have a trade route etc. But it's quite fiddly. Why do I need to keep visiting other planets where I have colonies just to make money.

I started off with quite a peaceful race, won the civ stage via religion but now I find people attacking me, and being at war, it's just totally repetitive go recharge, go back and get shot to bits, back to recharge etc.

I bought it today, and it's going straight back to PC World tomorrow - unopened.

I don't agree with the SecuROM junk that EA infests on the buying public, nor the three activation limit before you have to either beg EA for another install shot, or buy a new copy of the game for your next 3 activations.

I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360, I used to be an avid PC gamer but I'm sticking to the consoles now - no wonder there's as much piracy as there is when the legit consumer is made to jump through so many hoops and have malware/spyware installed on their PC just in order to play a game they have purchased!

It's the same salient point that has turned me off GTR2/GTR Evo - the fact that it has to be installed, activated and launched through Steam, which flicked my switch after HL2 - the only game I own that got installed once and told me I wasn't able to reinstall it after a HDD crash as I wasn't allowed (or some junk like that)

BTW, spore is cracked and torrented already, so the protection only serves to hold up the legit purchasers and nobody else.

Securom annoyed me on GTR and GTL when I tried using a different version of windows and they wouldn't work purely because Securom didn't support the OS.

I'd much rather add a game to steam as that means I can get unlimited installed, it even means I can lose the disc as you can download it from the steam servers as many times as you want.

I have it running on both my laptops, one is a 2-3 year old AMD 1800+, 2Gb RAM and an ATI X300 integrated video card. The other is my Asus EEE with a 900 MHz Celeron, 2Gb RAM and an Intel video card.

It is playable on the lowest settings on my EEE but runs at about 20FPS... Happy that it runs though since it is so far below the min spec of 2GHz P4 or equivalent or 2.6 P4 if you have integrated graphics....

you have to socialise and then they'll join you.

Dancing or singing is enabled with your feet and mouth parts at the creation stage. They then should appear as options in the green section in the middle of the screen at the bottom.
