A shopping centre in Croatia has introduced female only parking bays. The bays, decorated with pink flowers, are wider and easier to access so as to make parking easier for women. As you can probably imagine, it's gone down like a knackered lift!

My neighbour has one of them but I think with permission her wimpy husband can park there for short periods.

Huh.

It surprises me to learn that the concepts of sexism and feminism has made it to the communists.

I thought they had only just discovered iron.

Do they have many cars over there?

Pictures I've seen show a lot of horse and carts.

I'd have expected women-only tethering posts at the very best.

The communists invented feminism. wink
The dream of everyone regardless of gender working for the common good like little robots I guess.

Indeed. And they backed it up with genetic engineering. These parking spaces are obviously only for the young Communist (or ex-Communist) women, the ones who look like ballet dancers. Over the age of 30-35 some genetic trigger kicks in and after that they are capable of lifting a badly parked tractor with one hand and plonking it down straight, so they don't really need bays at all then.

It's quite common to see these things in Germany too, it astounds me. How do they know a woman owns the car which is parked in the space?? Do you have to display a Woman Badge when parked up?

the seat back will be approximately 15cms away from the steering wheel and the rear view mirror will be adjusted to show lipstick application.

Easy, if it's parked diagonally and/or over the line. A woman parked it.

They've got extra-wide parking spaces in my local Waitrose for all the fools who can't park their Porsche vans properly. Didn't stop a stupid woman opening her door straight onto my little roller-skate car the other day and exclaiming "Oop's I didn't see you there"!

No, dear, it's unlikely you'd see anything behind all that mascara you're wearing to go to the supermarket. I asked her how adept her van was for navigating the precipitous terrain of the car park, but she just looked at me blankly.

Personally, I think women-only parking spaces are a waste of time. Who's going to police them?

The German authorities are quite clever about it though, their official line is the the spaces are bigger so that the women have more room to get their "offspring" in and out of the cars, and they seem to buy that hehe

Ah so they're more like those 'family' spaces you get in England? Rather than being an actual space for a woman to park her car in?

And yes, foolishly only AFTER I'd posted my message above did the obvious signs spring to mind. <slaps forehead>
