Hello again! Some sites state it can record to both 50i & 60i format in HD - other dont. I'm aware the bigger Z model is indeed switchable - wondering if this one also is.

thanks

the model I've used is the one with E on the end- all sony's stuff designated with E is for europe.

As far as im aware the HVR-A1E isnt switchable, its set at 50i

just found a tech specs pdf for it: http://www.venta-visual.com/productos/prod-2-broad...

and at the back it has the tech specs, which confirm its recording formats as just 108050i and 576/50i

im not sure about the with P on the end

edit:

did a little research

the p is also 50i- its just the one they sell in places other than europe which are also 50i. Like austrailia.

If you need an A1 that records 60i, you'll need the HVR-A1U - which is the A1 they sell in the untied states of americaland

thanks so much Fordo.
Looks like it'll be the Z model then, if I can afford the big stuff.
