Is it me or does there seem to be loads more being broken up for spares? Good or bad thing?

Can't decide personally, as it helps feed demand for harder to get bits or bits at more affordable prices so helps keep cars on the road/running, but also diminishes the quantity of those very cars in the first place. Prompted by insurers just writing off rather than underwriting repair I suppose...

It's down to that horrible term "credit crunch" and as you've said uneconomical to repair.

Also the market has dropped through the floor for Sports Cars, so keeping them on the road seems less sensible to people who have damaged them.

Very sad really as there's not many of them around. Especially the later models.

As said by Stevie Mojo...

theres money to be made.
I have 2 Rover SD1's garaged that i reckon are worth 4 or 5 times the money as parts sold on ebay.
Parts for TVRs are always in demand, i know ive bought a few off ebay myself.

Naah. Specialist cars have always been worth more as parts than whole vehicles. I remember having a discussion with a specialist Cosworth breaker when I was trying to get a parcel shelf for my 3-door Sierra Cossie about 10 years ago; he was breaking 2 or 3 a week and said that they were worth several times their street value as parts.

Good lad!

Mine is nearing its completion - with luck it should be done for Christmas.

I'm looking at buying a category D write off T350 that has been put right, the only reason it was CAT D was because the insurance company wrote it off because of no parent car company any more. Is it worth the risk in buying it? - I'm told it was only corner damage, two new wishbones? Anyone got any thoughts?

I noticed a lot in the classifieds were due to damage and wondered if it was due to the fire at TVRpower.
