Video Sound in car

Guys

Took some footage in car tonight, camera mounted on suction mount on the screen. Video was ok but the sound was dreadful. Mostly wind noise and background roar rather than capturing the engine noise.

The camera has an external mic input which I think I'll need to use.

So, does anybody have a recommendation for an external mic or positioning?

I have one of these (last one) and put it in the engine bay, works well

But the new one they have is cheaper and you can adjust it, that one might be the better option.

That is a almost standard ST220

Hmmm. Maybe one of these exhaust mic's. It'll be in the back of the F355 somewhere, maybe on the rear panel above the exhaust...
