I've not found it, so I figured I'd start it.

So how peeved off was I to find out that Canon had just released the latest semi-pro camera....the 50D, only 3 months after I just bought my 40D.

Amongst many extras, the one that find most impressive is the super ISO boost at an ISO12800!!! Incredible!!! I'm not doubting for one minute the noise will be not exactly ideal, however I've been told by a colleague and reviews on the net that the lack of noise at ISO 3200 is superb.

On top of this, with an increased 15MP count, HDMI output, DIGIC 4 processor, AF fine tuning, improved weather proofing and live view controls, this is one heck of a camera.

Is there anyone else out there considering one?

Personally I'm holding out for the Canon 5D Mark II or possibly Mark III if it were to ever to be released.....hence another 4-5 years with my 40D.

Just thought I'd add DP Reviews excellent review: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos50d/

Tbh, the 40D is about £590 at the moment, the 50D around £1199. Apparently (and slightly surprisingly) the 50D will be sold along side the 40D.

Some nice features, not sure i'd upgrade from a 40D but 20D/30D users may be tempted to jump...

Cheers.

I'm more than happy with my 40D. I reckon when it comes to upgade time I'll be looking to go full frame.

I know! Plus I still don't come close to using it to it's full potential. It's just one of those "I WANT" gadget cravings......hehe

Like I said though. The next camera I'll buy will most certainly be full frame so it'll be something like a 5D Mark II or perhaps Mark III when the time comes.....

(It's also the reason I'm not buying any EF-S lenses)

Nothing wrong with EFS lenses. What , you going to use inappropriate focal lengths for the next 3-4 years..?

There is definitely nothing wrong with EFS lenses. However that's not to say I'll be using incorrect focal lengths.

I've currently got a 17-40mm f/4L which I love with a passion, my nifty fifty smile, and finally my cheapy EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 cheapy lens which I will replace next year with a 70-200mm f/2.8L.

All of these lenses are full frame compatible. My only complaint is I'd like to have something in between the 17-40 and 70-200 in the form of perhaps a 24-70mm or 24-105mm, however I can wait.

Also, the 28mm f/1.8 would be a lovely prime to have. A little more usable too with a cropped frame. At times I sometimes feel I'm running out space with my 50mm f/1.8 prime.

I feel the same way about the 50mm on a cropped camera, works great for some tasks but can feel a little long for a walk-around lens - I'm looking at the 28mm f1.8 as well.
Seems for every review of the 28 1.8 you get a mention of the Sigma 30mm f1.4...

Cheers.

Sigma is better but only an EFS.
