Hi guys...I read a post on here about people changing their V5s to state PLG or something

I have a 2005 tuscan convertible 2S...what have people with later models done with road tax and have they kept their v5 as is or done this plg thing. Would the plg thing also put off any future buyers and how do you go about changing it if it is a good thing.

any help would be appreciated

I always thought they were all PLG anyway, i know mine is, i don't know if you have to change it though. I think it was 180ish last year.

I think paying £400 VED will put a buyer off more...as I've told you before, YOUR car was incorrectly registered when 1st registered.

Just taxed mine - £185 - I didn't even mind paying the extra £2 or so to do it online with a credit-card.

Has PLG on the tax disc.

Why would a buyer be put off by PLG? What's yours registered as then?

All cars should be PLG (private/light goods)up to 2001, then tax rate set according to Co2, unless they state disabled.

I've not heard of many being CO2 rated, that's part of the allure of buying a TVR isn't it? The fact that it's quick and greedy, but still cheap to insure hehe

Yes, Mani....Just send your V5C back to the DVLA at Swansea with ancompanying letter, stating it has been incorrectly registered as a PC and since TVR are a low volume producer then it should be classified as a PLG. I would also include a copy of the Ministers Approval certificate for your particular car which includes your VIN code (TVR would have supplied this with your car). The year is irrelevant (although I know the online budget statement keeps going on about 2001)...worked OK for me since mine was a PC (with CO2 rating) until I complained and got it changed last year.

They will then ask you to return your Tax Disc and the nice people with send you a new Tax disc with PLG on it and a refund of about £25 I guess (£210-£185).

Hi Guys, I've been reading this post with some interest as my T350C qualifies for £210 annual road tax and I would be interested in getting my car quoted as PLG instead of PC. To enable me to do this I would need a copy of the Ministers Approval certificate, but I have no idea how to get one. Could anyone please enlighten me?
Cheers.

Just checked mine and TVR's should be PLG 1 and £185 per annum to tax. This is because TVR are (were) a low volume small car company and so no CO2 is stated on the V5.

This ties in with 5th Gear last night where they did a slot on this very thing.

hope this helps.

Might want to try your local DVLA office, they should be able to do it for you. My Laguna was incorrectly classified and they put it right for me. Note!! bring you certificate of insurance with you, believe it or not some DVLA offices don't have the equipment to look up to see if your car is insured (and they will need to see it is), whilst the post office can - completely nuts.

Learn something new every day here.

So, can some please confirm this for me, in plain words.

A 2002 TVR Cerbera 4.5 LW, would this be £185 per year road fund licence?

All TVRs are PLG as they have all been registered under SVA. None should have a CO2 rating.

Edit: So, yes, £185 per year for any TVR at current pricing.
