Red Dwarf + US = FAIL
The Office + US = FAIL
Life on Mars + US = FAIL

what is up with the TV producers over there? They find something good, buy the rights, but think it could do with changing a little to US actors, and jokes, and just ruin it

I thought it was less cringeworthy than the UK version.

That's hardly accurate.

You missed out Coupling + US = FAIL

None of these US versions could possibly be as bad as David Baddiel's version of Seinfeld.

One of the funniest shows on TV, they've done well with that one.

Much as I hate both surely that's the point????

As for "Life On Mars", getting Keitel could be a double edged sword. Yes he'll drag the viewers in but can he "get" the character like Philip Glenister did?? They also have decided that New York rather than Los Angelas will make a better location which given the "grttier" nature of the Big Apple makes some sense.

I know it is the point but not to go so far as people can't stand to watch it.

In your opinion. Same reason my mother thinks TV adverts are stupid - because they're not generally aimed at 87-year-old widows. The UK audience is very different from the UK one. They know that.

I watched it a while ago, and I thought it was awful. Just like a modern American police drama with older clothes.
