It's the St John Ambulance page on first aid.

http://www.sja.org.uk/sja/first-aid-advice/lifesav...

If enough people can learn a few things from here such as CPR, we at PH may be able to save a life or two.

Thanks

A few frends work for Ambulance Service. They hate people who think they know what they are doing. Doing more harm tham good.

Over confidence with amateur medics has never and will never be a good thing.

Agreed. If you want to learn how to do CPR etc. then go on a training course. They're not expensive.

Not to self to renew qualifications

As a first aider the priorities when dealing with a casualty are always the same:

* Airway
* Breathing
* Circulation.
I've done about 50 first aid courses in my time working offshore.

Latest and greatest trendy saying is Dr.ABCD

Danger (to yourself, don't die from what he did)
Response (is the person really just asleep)
Airways
Breathing
Circulation
Deadly bleeding. (no point kicking his heart back into gear if he is bleeding the claret like a stuck pig)

We also did CPR training a hundred times, but as most medics will agree, the chances of saving someone whose heart has actually stopped are about 1 in 100.

But, if it were a loved one, I'd do it until I physically couldn't do any more, or until help came.

Deadly bleeding?

Not heard that term before for DR ABCD.

How's that then? being a Jehovahs bumchum or whatever is not the same league as saving someones life is it?

Let's hope I don't across you in an emergency that required someone saving my life.
