Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help? I am currently looking to get into motorsport as a career but I am really struggling to find anywhere who will take on an apprentice. I have previously obtained qualifications from college for general motor mechanics and motorsport engineering, and now just really want to get involved and gain some experience, either within a race team or in a garage. If anyone could help or has any suggestions I would really appreciate it, even if I'm working for free initially helping out sweeping the floor, making the tea or whatever

Many Thanks

Carl

I notice you are in Surrey so you have a couple of local options off the top of my head, WSR near Walton On Thames / Chertsey and Mclaren in Woking.

What motorsport qualification did you take ? Oxford Brookes ?

My advice would be to approach them, go to the site and ask to speak to HR manager call first if you prefer, remember if you don't ask you don't get and it will be unlikely someone will come to find you.

Thanks for the advice, im from surrey moose, but would look to move away if the right job came up somewhere else. I currently have a IMI level 3 certificate in light vehicle maintenance and repair, and also a BTEC national diploma in motorsport engineering.

Hi, I work for Carlin Motorsport, we are based in Aldershot and Chessington so not far from you if you are in Surrey. We race in the British Formula 3, A1GP and World Series by Renault Championships. If you email your cv to me at jamie@carlin.co.uk I will pass it on the the relevant people here. As far as I know there are no vacancies at the moment but things are constantly changing. I suggest you go along to some race meetings and introduce yourself to the team managers of some of the bigger teams in the British F3 and GT championships, offering to work for free may be a good tactic but this also puts some people off as they feel that if they are not paying you they have no control over you and no guarantee that you will show up!

Experience is the key in motorsport.

As your obviously a bit handy with the spanners have you thought about volunteering your services to one of the many privateers racers on here or somewhere like 10 tenths?
