Is it just me or do large companies have a department dedicated to inventing stupid fking names of things that go into their products?
The ones that annoy me the most are:

Boswelox - sorry this just sounds too much like bks.
Fructis - Indeed.
Bifidus Digestivum - Oh come on.
Bifidus Acturegularis - Jesus H Christ.

Does anyone think - "OOh Boswelox - i've been waiting for something to come out with that in it" or "Yeah - bifidus acturegularis is what my lower intestine has been crying out for"

What other made up busllst compound/ingredient/products get on the collective tits of the PH community?

Any example of shampoo or makeup b*llst spouted on the adverts. I swear that grown women are at least 10x more gullible than children aged 2-6 when it comes to cosmetics and shampoo type adverts, I mean come on, what a load of old sh*t they talk.....

A valid thread subject and one I was going to post.

I was in my in-laws' shower the other day, soaping my genitals as one does, when I saw a shower 'cream' made by Nivea called 'Cashmere Moments'.

Cashmere Moments!

Cashmere,

Moments.

Cheeses Christ. It is a soapy liquid. Thats all. Nothing to do with soft wooly fabric or some indulgent brief encounter with said fabric that would necessitate use of the term 'moment'.

Neither was it so special that during a consequent comparitive controlled experiment, said Nivea product felt no different to my own inexpensive shower gel when soaped around my spuds. (Full write-up available in the Lancet soon).

Chris Moyles entertains me with the spoof adverts for things he has on his morning show.

One in particular is an abdominal toner machine type thing called 'Belly-Ender', always makes me laugh.

A valid point - it has remeinded me of the Fabric softener that smells like Black Diamond and Lotus Flowers.
What, pray tell does a black diamond smell like? What does any kind of diamond smell like?
Surely "Black Diamond" is basically Coal? fking Coal!
How would you like your clothes to smell like coal? Jesus!
Toss of the highest order.

"I can't believe it's not Butter" is another shocker. You might as well call something "Buy this st" and be done with the pretence.

Yes.

And another thing (and its not entirely in-keeping with OP but...)

Shreddies. -I like 'em. Crunchy and malty.

No need for advertising gimmicks then? Wrong. Apparently all shreddies are 'individually knitted by nannas' according to makers (Nestle?)

I really don't want a bowlfull of shreddies touched by a myriad of dribbling old ladies.

I used to work in a nursing home as a university holiday job and old ladies' wee smells of cheese and onion crisps. Fact.

It's a completely ficticious name that originates nowhere near where you think it comes from.

The name was invented (yes invented, someone sat down and made up a name to make is sound exotic to the yanks) in the USA to flog normal ice cream and charge the earth for it, the brand is now owned by a multinational.

Anything to do with miracle creams to combat aging are the best. Penta-peptides.... yeah right.

Made-up products with made-up chemical names for made-up miracle cures to something that is perfectly natural. Its all a con and the adverts are just on the right side of legal.....

Yet people fall for them day in and day out. Clearly the fake names are sufficient to convince the buying public that its real.

NOPE - its SOFT FOCUS.
