They are alluding to the fact that this years harvest is going to be sh
te, due to the terrible summer. As a consequence grain prices will rocket, therefore the price of things like bread will be going up.
Not sure the farmers will see much of this "extra" money though ?
No, we're currently being raped sans KY on drying costs, if it goes over 18% it's cheaper to leave it in the bloody ground!

Friend just started harvest I know he is having a s
t time. As drive shaft snapped on one of harvesters, his wood pellet store for Drax burnt to the ground, and his harvest is sh!t.So these days what does it cost to run a dryer?
Its about 20+ years since we were involved and we used Muir hills to move the corn and wheat, so that gives you an idea of the quantities we were harvesting the good old days!
I don't think people realise how true silent1's comment is about leaving it on the ground, at those rates its not worth the fuel to reap.

Funny old world. The millers don't want damp grain but the butchers are injecting meat with water and getting away with it.Its about 20+ years since we were involved and we used Muir hills to move the corn and wheat, so that gives you an idea of the quantities we were harvesting the good old days!
