TT 3.2 advice

I have a friend who wants to get rid of his 3.2 TT dsg, its in avus silver with red leather, 04/04 42k on clock.

are these cars still popular with the new model out or is it kiss of death ?

Values have suffered with the new tax rules (it falls into the highest band), and some DSG owners seem to be reporting issues with the 'boxes, often requiring £2k+ worth of work to replace mechatronic modules. Be wary of any gearbox irregularities or graunches, as these can point to problems, and if you can buy a (decent) aftermarket warranty to give you peace-of-mind. Other than that, nice cars with some of the past "image concerns" disappearing now the fashion-conscious have moved on to the new model.
