Here’s a tricky one. I have the opportunity to work from home in the UK. Supposing I wanted to live outside the UK and EU (Argentina if it makes a difference) what would be the situation regarding tax? Would I pay in the UK or Argentina? Or both?? And with work permits? Would I need a work permit for Argentina since although I would be there and be working from there, my employment contract would be in the UK?

As I see it, the contract being in the UK would mean that I wouldn’t need to do anything different in Argentina as it’s nothing more than making a phone call (or several) while on an extended holiday, but I’m pretty sure a tax official could fault my reasoning here.

I can't really answer your question but I think the answer will depend on the country you are working in not for.

I work from home in the UK for a US company and I believe (although not certain) that HMG required that a UK subsidiary company was set up in the UK and I would therefore work for a UK Co and so pay UK Tax, NI together with all the other stuff.

At the same time my US employers have to abide by UK working practices and regulations so I am as "protected" as any other UK employee.
