Whilst out and about in Surrey today i passed 3 TVRS ( two Chims and a Cerb) and not one of the drivers acknowledged our prescence.

Is this a new trend because ive never experienced this anywhere else?

They're a bunch of snobs in Surrey, Tony . If I see you driving your car in my part of the world, I'll be sure to wave (even if I'm in the BMW).

I've almost given up waving to other TVR owners ... I did think I may start a new "Spotted - another miserable sod" trend of posting ...

SO many these days just don't. I don't know whether it's because I'm in the London area, but Chimaera drivers are the worst, followed by Tuscan owners. The rest seem all right.

(excepting my Dad in his Chimaera as he at least waves to me )

There's a CHIMAERA driver going around my area, I always see him about. Stopped next to him one day but he was either a rude muthaf**ka or didn't know what a Cerbera looked like! Always flash or wave him but not the slightest acknowledgement. Next time I'm gonna give him some 'AJP V8 Sports Pipes popping banging with all the trimmings' through his window

Get the same thing down Southend way. Some of them are friendly and some ain't. Er, apologies to the black Tuscan who waved and who I ignored - trying to look at a map.

I tend to acknowledge all TVR drivers and locally a couple of Caterhams. All except a red Seac i've seen a few times return the compliment.

I had a 50% wave success rate this Sunday on my way to Reading and back (from London).

On the way out of London on the A3 (in Wandsworth), I exchanged big waves with another Cerbera driver heading into town.

On the way back into London on the M4 I saw a lovely light blue '51 plate Cerb in the inside lane, doing about 60mph (what was with that by the way), so I pulled along side and the driver just stared straight ahead. I bibbed my horn and waved - he looked at me as if I was mad!

Perhaps I am

I find that Chim Drivers all wave at me, but the most enthusiastic are those in Wedges. It might be be the shock that someone has recognised them, but they seem more friendly than others.

I always try to acknowledge other TVR drivers, but sometimes it’s not practical to do so when you’re travelling at warp speed and need to keep both hands on the wheel!

Well, they need to be initiated into the rites of TVR ownership!

Anyway only a sad bugger would wave at another driver driving a similar marque of car. oops

Seriously tho, I think I've only encountered maybe a handful of such owners. The rest flash, wave or nod back. One chimaera owner in the epsom area WAVED AND SHOUTED LIKE HE'D WON THE LOTTERY!! Which was amusing

I'll flash/wave pretty much anyone in a performance car - simple as that.

Wave, shout nod, I almost always get a response from a TVR owner, unless she happens to be a woman, never had any response from them in, or out of a car.

I'm in Southend and wave at all TVR's (even though I'm a Tuscan driver )...not all wave back but most do.

In fact I acknowledge most sports car drivers and most seem to acknowledge me back.

Yeah I wave too and get a no reply. Its mainly Cerb & Tuscan owners. Perhaps they've never seen a Wedge before I reason to myself when they rumble past in ignorance. My wife laughs her socks off though when it happens...she doesn't get the TVR thing.
