Was there last night. Great atmosphere. People didn't know whether to cheer or cry at the demolition of this local landmark.

Wow that's a landmark I've not seen for a long time. Never will again now.

Meadowhall Rd, parallel to Meadow Bank Rd, perched on someone's garden wall wink

Great shots. You must have ummed and ahhed over settings - think you struck the right balance.

Is that a bit of the second (nearer) tower left standing in the last shot?

absolutely

It is sad to see them go. I haven't driven down the M1 for maybe 9 months or more, they were always a landmark for me knowing I didn't have long to go on my journeys.

I took a couple of pics when we were passing last Monday. They aren't art, but I figured it would be the last time I saw them.

Failing that, I was on the back seat (I can't really recommend that).

It took a while to get the pics set up. I have an EOS400D but find that sometimes the pics as they appear on the lcd can still appear grainy when you get them on the pc, so a bit of luck as well. I shot them in AV mode at 0.3sec, f5.6, iso 800. I have a 18-85 IS lens which I think made the difference - a friend also took pics with a non-IS lens and couldn't get the clarity.

That is a bit of the tower remaining, which later fell.

Just to add: with about 1 minute to go to 3am it started to rain, hence the circles on the left. I was caught wondering whether to wipe the lens or risk losing the 1st blast! Decided not to risk it!
