Fan control not working...

Fuse appears to be good (swapped it with a spare and still no use).
Had the control panel off inside the car, and all the wires are looking sound and fully pushed on.
Is one of the wires on the back of the fan control a live? Perhaps I could buy a power meter from Maplin and test it?
With the ignition on, when I adjust the air direction control on the far right, I could hear some mechanical changes up front, and I know the heater itself is ok as the ram effect when driving will push warm air in. So just the fan
I may be at the end of my own abilities, and am unsure where to go from here...is it a technician job do you think?
