Had a great day Friday; went down to Mech Repairs in Cheltenham for a session with Mark Adams.

Mark changed the coil and (enlarged) airflow meter for Bosch ones. The original (cheap) coil had only done 2000 miles and was rattling already

The change in the power / drivability of the car is amazing, it sounds more agressive, and pops and bangs like never before. It revs like mad and pulls hard to 6000 rpm, has a more linear power delivery now too

Had few mods done before taking it down; Magnecor leads, ACT enlarged Al trumpet base with smooth bore pipes and K&N, plus exchange manifolds with pre-cats taken out. The sound and volume really suit me now.

Was really interesting seeing the car on the rollers, have never sat on the boot sill of a car doing 120 mph The sound was awesome

Peak power was 235 bhp, though am told mech repairs road measures around 20-30bhp low compared to other roads. So figure 260-270 bhp

We had problems getting traction on the rollers even with reduced rear tyre pressures and me sat in the boot. Turned out to be cheap rear tyres The tyres were on the car when I bought it, they are Marshall Power Racer II's. According to Mark and Brian (Mech Repairs) they are real budget performance tyres even though they are Z-rated. I had noticed the handling was a bit 'interesting' when powering out of corners, and thought the set-up was out - which it is not. So looks like getting some SO3's on the back, shame the Marshalls have lots of thread left

So big thanks to Mark Adams & Tim from ACT
