Land Rover Range Rover Holland & Holland
Discussion
Been looking around for an unpopular car for ages. Flirted with Phaeton's and 2002 on Range Rovers, but decided to go for a car I have always wanted being the 2000 - 2002 Holland & Holland.
NB: Fuel is not a concern as I do a minimal mileage.
So questions:
1) Are the 4.6 engines as poor as I have heard?
2) I thought they came with luggage as new, but this is never mentioned in ads - predictably. Am I correct? Has anyone heard of the luggage being offered seperately?
3) Pricing. It is a Ltd edition, but RR's are really unpopular at present. Has anyone tried to sell one? Glasses guide via Vauxhall suggests this http://www.virtual-showroom.co.uk/scripts/nuvv/nuv...
4) Any experience of the car or RR's of that engine type and age appreciated. Forearmed is forewarned and all that.

I had a 4.6. Had no engine problems sold it at 160,000 miles,
The porous bores is a kmown problem I let mine run for an hour standing on the forecourt to watch the temp and levels.
The air bag suspension on the other hand was pony and trap, changed it to springs in the end.
Had mine on LPG fantastic.

I've just sold my 4.6 - it had already been converted to coils when I bought it.The porous bores is a kmown problem I let mine run for an hour standing on the forecourt to watch the temp and levels.

Had also had a new replacement engine fitted by Landrover at 70k as the original one went pourous - bill for £6k !!
Lovely vehicles though, I'd have another tomorrow. LPG next time though.

Word of warning. I just bought a Disco 2 V8 and there was no overheating to be seen. Had a sniffer test done and there's exhaust gases in the coolant and it looks like a porous blockHave owned 2 P38 V8's and never had a problem with overheating. Done around 70k between them during my ownership and the only issue with either cars air suspension was a new compressor on the first one at aroun 80k. I think it was around £250 fitted and a very easy job to fit. Needs Rovacom or similar to clear the fault codes before it would work though.
Heater O rings is another common problem which used to be a dash out job for 2 20p each rubber rings. Ingeneous owners have developed short cuts and I understand the job can now be done ina couple of hours.
Blend motors are problematic but never had any issues with either of the cars.
Lots of info here on P38 http://rangerovers.net/forum/

Did mine using the procedure you mention - a bh of a job, but 4hrs start to finish - there's also another procedure that is supposed to reduce that to 2hrs but I didn't find it until after the job was done.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
