Had a C-service done this week at an idenpendant garage. When I picked it up I was told that the left rear spring was broken at the very lower end. The "loose ring" was removed and the spring is subsequently a little shorter. Now obviously I'm gonna replace the damper assembly (getting the S2 upgrade), but the thing is that the car now pulls slightly to the right when I accelerate. Can this be a result of the offset on the rear? It doesn't feel that great to be honest smile

My guess would be yes but as I don't know for sure I'll leave that to one of the experts to answer.
What I do know is that I wouldn't want to drive a car like that - it will be compromised. Get a set of replacements ASAP and take it very easy in the meantime.

A shorter spring means lower ride height on that side so the car will pull one way or the other.

Get it changed ASAP, It's really not safe.

Did they cut the spring? Is that even legal?

Get it changed ASAP, doesn't sound particularly safe.

Well. They've notified him about it. And it's not like you can just go out and buy another suspension for an Elise around the corner here.
The owner is a friend of mine for many years and I know he wouldn't have let Sune drive away if it wasn't safe. And I'm sure he's told Sune to buy a new suspension ASAP.

He did warn me about it and told me to get it fixed right away. I'm ordering the S1-S2 Bilstein upgrade kit from EP.
Since the car will be 10mm lower some geo adjustment will be necessary. I'm a little confused whether it means I should order some camber shims or simelar along with the suspension kit. I don't have any particular needs besides a well adjusted roadcar.

Thanks for all the warnings - the car sits in the garage until it gets fixed.

Don't know what the recommended settings are though. I think my car had a setting similar to the motorsport setting, but it was lowered a bit more as well. You might want to try it and see how it goes even though your car will be a bit higher thumbup
