I've been lucky enough to see a fair old part of the world so maybe I'm more cynical than most but where would you not recommend to your worst enemy/mother-in-law?

Florida. I'll concede it's fun for children and a 'must' when they're young enough but the whole place is full of chavvy Brits wearing Abercrombie & Fitch shirts (because that's sooooo exclusive rolleyes), three quarter length trousers, England football shirts, bling bling jewellery and half the world supply of tattoos.

I was going to suggest that the next forty-nine contenders could be wherever these scumbags congregate but that would be too easy so, where else?

Tubingen (umlaut over the "u") in Germany, especially when you are only 16 and most of the shops are crap and there is nothing to do its so boring being stuck there for about 5 hours.

Budapest.

I've been twice and hated every single second of it. The only reason I went for a second time was to confirm that the first time had not been a fluke and that it was, in fact, a complete st hole.

The people are unfriendly and look at you as if you just tried to crap in their handbag. It's dirty, smelly and from what I can make out, the underground system is maintained solely by revenue generated from fining tourists who don't understand the stupendously illogical ticketing system. And the reason we don't understand it, is because the instructions are printed on something the size of a postage stamp and are written in pigeon English which renders them utterly unintelligible. Oh, and once you've seen the Parliament, there's fk all else to do anyway.

There are two good things about Budapest:

1. You can leave
2. Fatals restaurant on Váci Utca (order the Steak in Devils Sauce, it goes a long way to make up for the rest of the crap you'll inevitably encounter whilst in the 'pest)

Budapest, I hope you burn to the ground, never to be rebuilt. I'd rather be in my own Grandmother, than be in Budapest...

Camden in New Jersey. I was just there for the baseball, but it was like being in downtown Basra. "Don't leave the stadium parking lot", was the advice from my host.

What a dump.

Wrexham. The only good thing about it is the by-pass.

Bangkok.

If you must go (to see the magnificent temples) go on a guided tour so you can avoid the inevitable crap of simply trying to get around. On the first day of being constantly hassled it seems almost like fun. By the the third day?

I'd say that that is more Orlando than Florida - St Augustine is lovely, as is St Pete's beach and the surrounding Keys.

Orlando is a hole however.

My vote would be Macau - great if all you want to do is gamble and get venereal diseases, not so good for anything else.

The worst places I have been, in no particular order:

Johannesburg
Birmingham
Riyadh
Doha
Glasgow
Lagos
Addis Ababa
Peshawar

But the worst of the lot, by an absolute country mile is Dammam in Saudi Arabia. Hell on earth.

Well so far I've managed to avoid it, and wasn't intending to change that state of affairs.
