..........DSLR photography.

Is there a book out there that you would recommend to me that explains the concepts of DSLR to me in simple terms? Would said book also provide a guide on processing RAW files, as I have had a stab at it and got good results but what I term 'good' could be completely different to everyone else's!? Example, would sharpening up an image in RAW have an adverse effect if when converting to JPEG? Also, while I am here, what is the best file format to convert to as I here you get some degradation in image quality through the process of compressing the file to JPEG?

Your help is much appreciated :-)
