England v Checks...Your predictions

there is a very sad fact here - we have some brits at the olympics who are paid very little but beat the world and we have some other "footballers" at home who are paid far too much and deliver f* all.
I was for a minute disappointed that the football was not on TV tonight but quickly realised that the TV programmers had got it right!

From reading teletext the draw was so unfair. On the Cheques - obviously.
By all accounts we were outplayed for big stretches of the game. Perhaps somebody who actually subscribes to Setanta Sports (who broadcast the game live) can give us their view...before the tabloid hacks get stuck into Capello tomorrow morning

I watched bits and pieces IM but frankly I wasn't that interested and kept popping back up onto the internet. What I saw was disjointed and generally s
te, apart from a decent 10 minute spell in the 2nd half where we strung some decent passes together.
For me, the personnel are all wrong. The midfield imo should be J Cole, Barry, Gerrard, Bentley. We are short on strikers through injury admittedly but despite numerous appearances I just don't think Defoe has international class. Nor is Wes Brown at RB.

Jeez we're in trouble then

Thanks for the heads up - I suspect that, although they wont be happy, the red tops might give him 1 more game to bring it round as this was a 'friendly'.

Watched this with incredulity. We had a bright start but then rapidly went downhill. England players were almost farcical in their ineptitude - how these same people put in such good performances for their clubs I have no idea. No decent positioning, no common sense even. For example, it was always obvious where the free kick for the second goal was going to go, and yet James moved the other way. The only player to retain any dignity was Gerrard, who did ok considering he was played out wide.
If we play at this standard against Croatia in Zagreb, we're going to get massacred.

Why I am full of hope then not surprised when things go tits up, glad I chose to go and watch a local reserve game last night instead, Basingstoke Town reserves v Burnham reserves. Probably saw a better game, certainly did the night before when Poole Town beat Christchurch in the Wessex Premier
.

My argument; Until much needed revenue from the top end of football finds it's way down the league, non league pyramid to help 'bring on' and coach local talent then you will only be served up more of this. One very good point to come from the Olympics was the success of the bike team, it just goes to show what happens with a bit of investment.

IMHO The last time England played well was under......... Maclaren, cant remember who it was against, theres a thread here about it somewhere.
Heskey and some bench warmers played and they had a bit of passion and commitment. If Capello continues to play this same old dross, will continue to be a laughing stock
Rooney looks lost, wtf has happened to his international game? And why when all the media, ex players and any one who has an ounce of sense(bar chelsea fans)
no that Lampards and Gerrard cannot play together,do England bosses continue with this formation?

I think you'll find Terry, Lampard, Beckham, Ferdinand, Rooney, Cole etc have delivered plenty to the people that "overpay" them, so that's bI was for a minute disappointed that the football was not on TV tonight but quickly realised that the TV programmers had got it right!
