How to Re-paint my gearbox?

Hi guys, going that it's raining, I decided to start tidying up the engine bay a little and give the chrome a polish. I hate to say it, but my gearbox looks yuk. The paints fallen off in places and it looks in need of a re-paint. Any suggestions what to use? and the best way of getting to it all (Ultima spyder)?

If you want the paint to stay on then I would say a steam clean would be the very minimum required but ideally a media blast. It should not see extreme temperatures so pretty much any paint of your choice but starting with a coat of etch primer.

i repainted mine with the box out as you will never reach it all with it in the car.

After a good clean with panel wipe, i gave it a light sanding where needed and several coats of silver Hammerite in a aerosol can. Actually used two cans.

That was six months ago , box still looks as good as new.
