Commenting on Giancarlo Fisichella driving around Curva Parabolica to finish his Friday qualifying lap.

*"...and he's taking a great line around this final constant radius corner....."

Er....you mean the corner called Curva Parabolica which is called that because it's a parabolic curve? Which means it opens up as you go round it you dopey fool.

* Heard this last night so may have the intro wrong but he certainly called is a constant radius corner

Guess he's taken over from Murry Walker in more ways than one.

But at least Murryism's were caused by excitement and mouth quicker than brain, rather than lack of thought!

The man is quite simply, a pillock. Murray Walker could make watching paint dry interesting, whereas Allen manages to make the most exciting sport in the world sound dull. Do you notice as well that Martin Brundle spends more time talking that Allen does? Shows how crap Allen is when the 'pundit' commentator says more than the professional. Bring in Ben Edwards!

Interesting. I've got to the stage where I turn the sound off now just to avoid James Allen.

Ben Edwards was the best ever, and I wonder if he's still doing commentaries in another branch of motor sport. Does anyone know?

Ben works is alongside Vicki Butler-Henderson and Tim Harvey as the anchorman for their coverage of the BTCC. Live coverage shown on Motors TV, delayed coverage on ITV. He's contracted to Granada Sport.

I was sure Ben Edwards would get the job when Murray retired. What a pity he didn't.

As for Murray, it was great to hear him in action on the PA at Goodwood last week. For a bloke over 80, he still sounds fresh and enthusiastic.
