The time has come to cast aside my trusty Ixus 40 which has been superb for the last 4 years and a reliable shirt pocket point and shoot.

I would welcome your suggestions on the sucessor to this fine little machine.

Again, I'm after a solid construction that can take the knocks of casual use, I'm open to suggestion on the level of mega pixels I need as I don't want bonkers file sizes but am quite happy to use the camera at partial resolution for most uses. It needs to be fast when you press the button because it will be used for catching toddler moments. I want SD card to make use of cards I already own. Other than those points I have an open mind...

Over to you and thanks in advance.

i purchased a Sony T70 recently and found that the zoom and sharpness of pictures is far from brilliant. Was fairly cheap but wouldn't recommend it.

Next camera will be an digital SLR, for sure.
